In the blink of an eye, February has come to an end and I’m sure you’re already focused on all you hope to accomplish in 2020. This is also true for your CPCU Society Leadership Council and it is my pleasure to serve as president and chair as we enter Year Two of our strategic plan.

While I’m confident that we’ve narrowed in on the objectives that matter most to you, our dedicated members, I want to assure you that this plan is not static. Your Leadership Council, along with staff, are hard at work frequently revisiting everything from the overarching goals to the individual tactics planned.
We know we need to be adaptive as we keep learning more. To that end, I want to hear from you. We don’t know what we don’t know and are relying on YOU to tell us. I strongly encourage you to submit your questions or feedback to me at CPCUSocietyPresident@TheInstitutes.org.
I am particularly excited about this year because now is when you’ll start to see some real changes. We welcomed our executive director, Valerie J. Cammiso, CAE, in November 2017, and she has truly challenged us to dig in—to what we are great at, what can be improved, and what’s missing. We thank you for your patience as we worked to improve our technology infrastructure, build our strategic plan, and set the foundation needed to be successful.
You’ll start to see these efforts paying off in 2020:
• A revamped Leadership Summit, with more soft skills and professional development content
• The first In2Risk™ event (previously The Institutes CPCU Society Annual Meeting), with increased networking, interactive learning, and actionable takeaways
• The introduction of podcasts, virtual communities, and a revamped mentoring program • Unlimited access to MindTools, a soft-skills online resource provider • The launch of Member Deals for exclusive entertainment and travel discounts • Enhancements to our interest groups
• And more.
Additional improvements, based on your feedback, are also under way, including a new webinar landing page designed to improve your user experience. In short, we’re here for you. I know many of us continue to be part of this great industry for one simple reason: to help others in their critical times of need. Let us help you help others. Let us help you succeed. If you haven’t renewed your membership for 2020, don’t miss out.
Renew today before your benefits expire on March 1. I’m confident that this is the year you’ll be reminded why close to 18,000 of us choose to invest our time, talent, and resources in this global community. We know that your needs, and the needs of your customers, will keep evolving—change is inevitable. But through it all, I guarantee you that one thing will remain the same: As your professional society, we are committed to being your partner.
The CPCU Society – Where go-getters get better, together.
Sincerely,
Your President Thomas E. Woods
