We are hiring for an experienced Underwriter, who will assess and calculate the risk of loss for policyholders with complex risks. This is achieved by defining the terms and conditions of the coverage, establishing appropriate premium rates that are paid to achieve our underwriting and profit goals, and meeting corporate production goals. You will work with our agents in writing and servicing complex accounts within assigned authority levels.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

In this role, you will:

  • Write new and renewal workers' compensation insurance policies to meet company written premium goals.
  • Evaluate applications, reports, information, and coverage requests and apply departmental and regulatory guidelines to determine risk acceptability.
  • Negotiate account pricing and coverage with agents within a designated level of authority.
  • Participate in the management and development of an assigned group of agents through field visits, completion of service requests, and identifying and pursuing appropriate business opportunities.
  • Analyze workload, establish priorities, and manage the desk to focus on agents' needs, while meeting quality and time service standards for processing.

    It's required that you:

    • Have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent education, training and experience.
    • Have at least two years' experience or equivalent education, training and experience for Underwriter II. At least five years' experience or equivalent education, training and experience for Senior Underwriter.

    It would be great to also have:

    • CPCU, CIC, ARM and other recognized industry-related designations.
    • Valid driver's license.
